Hotel Check-In Time

Hotel check-in time simply refers to the time that the guest should be in at the hotel. This policy is important to be followed because this allows the hotel housekeepers to clean and check the room after the former checked-in guests have checked-out.

Other hotels have different periods of time before the next check-in guest arrives. This time is allotted for housekeepers to see if there are damages or breakages, and stolen utilities from the hotel rooms. Guests are provided with Hotel Feedback Forms when they check-out. This is for the hotel company to gather suggestions, recommendations, and violent reactions from random guests.

How to Get Early Hotel Check-In

When getting an early hotel check-in, the guest/s can make a room reservation. This can be done through phone, email, or by accessing hotel/company’s website. Some could make reservations personally at the hotel. A reservation form is to be filled up with necessary information:

  • Guest information includes name, address, contact, email
  • Room information includes type, numer of days/nights, check-in & check-out dates, number of persons
  • Requests (additional bed, refrigerator, etc.)
  • Bill Information includes room rates, reservation fee, etc.
  • Payment transaction (amount payable, cash rendered, change, balance upon arrival, etc)

Upon checking-in of the guests, they are provided a Hotel Registration Form. This is used as a record of the hotel company for future references.

Late Hotel Check-Ins

Hotels have policies that are needed to be strictly followed, most especially when it is peak season and they are fully booked. But there are cases when it is unavoidable that the hotel encounters any problem/s regarding the checking-in and checking-out of the guests.

There is an exact time of when the guest should check-in at the hotel. Although some hotels do not have any problems with the check-in time of guests. This is because they have 24/7 front desk who can accompany guests. For other hotels, they allow late check-ins as long as the guests checks-out at the exact time allotted for them.

If the guest wishes to cancel or change his or her hotel reservation, the cancellation or modification should be down atleast three (3) days prior to the check-in date. If failure to do so, an additional fee or rate will be charged.

When ensuring that guests would show up on the day of check-in, hotels would ask at least thirty percent (30%) of the rate upon reservation. If guests did not show up, the payment will not be refundable. It is used as a type of insurance that the guests have agreed with the guidelines or policies.

Since it is also unavoidable that there are guests who are not satisfied with their stay at the hotel, they can make a complaint about their stay. Guests with complaints regarding the hotel facilities and services can obtain Hotel Complaint Forms from the front desk. They are to fill up the form and state the reason/s why or what happened. These complaints are then submitted to the department head and resolved.

Hotel Guidelines and Policies

There are allotted time for check-in and check-out, but these are not always strictly followed by most of the guests. The most common example for this is when guests have early flight on their day of check-in and have no place to stay. Now, assuming that you are the guest, here are eight tips for you to score early check-ins.

  • Have an early notice to the hotel that you will be early since you have an early flight.
  • Tell the staff that you’re okay with whatever is available
  • You could ask for day rates and pay, so you can stay while waiting for the check-in time.
  • Ask about public facilities where you can relax in.
  • Leave your luggage at the front desk to enjoy sightseeing for a moment.
  • Have a check of their business centers where you could sit and relax.
  • Book a day early or the night before checking in.
  • You could pay for extra day.

Take note that not all of these tips will be guaranteed when you used them. But if the hotel is not fully booked, then there will be a chance that they will spare an available room for you.
