What is a Research Consent Form?
Much like a Survey Consent Form, Research Consent Forms allow a research candidate the choice of whether or not they are willing to participate in certain activities or answer certain questions. These forms ensure that the participant has given their full consent to the researcher and that they have no qualms with whatever activity they’ve been tasked to do.
This prevents any sort of legal issues from happening, so long as the performed activities were all mentioned within the consent form. You wouldn’t want to do something if you don’t know what it’s all about would you?
How to Write a Research Consent Form?
When making these forms, one has to consider the necessary information that should be placed in them. Here they are as follows:
- Name of the researcher
- Name of the participant
- Contact numbers of both parties
- The details of the research such as the activities and research methods involved
- Contact number of the researcher’s supervisor
- Title of the research
All of these must be taken into serious consideration once making a Research Consent Form. If you need to know more on how to make one, there are Research Consent Form Templates here to help you out.

Guidelines for Research Consent
In order for you to make sure that the participant is willing to give his or her consent to your study, here are some guidelines to help you out.
- Explain the purpose of your study. You’re going to want to inform the possible participant as to why you’re conducting the research to begin with and what its benefits are.
- Mention what he or she will be doing. The would-be participant will want to know every detail as to what they might have to do or what kind of information he or she will be handing out.
- Personal details about yourself. You’ll want to ease in the person by tell him or her about yourself such as your name and your contact number in the event that they would like to know.
So if you’re going to do any kind of research for your own reasons, then make sure you have all the necessary forms in your hands such as Student Consent Forms or Medical Consent Sample Forms. Because if you’re going to study something that requires a human subject, you’re going to have to let them give you their consent first.
