Right to Equal Opportunity in Housing

Having a roof over our heads is one of our most basic necessities. You should not be denied a purchase or rental of a house, denied a loan application even when financially capable, or evicted or threatened with eviction due to race, religion, or color, among others.

Right to Public Service

A person is entitled to make use of public services. You should not be denied admission or use of any public facility, subjected to unequal treatment, denied goods or services on an equal basis by a public facility, because of your race, religion, or color, among others.

There is a saying by Elizabeth Cady Stanton that goes like this: “The history of the past is but one long struggle upward to equality.” Our civil rights were mandated to help us achieve equality. That is why if you or someone you know was discriminated against, speak up and file a complaint. If you have other complaints not relating to discrimination, you may check out our Official Complaint Forms.
