Every time you make a purchase or when you receive your paycheck, you encounter taxes. Taxes are bound to exist as long as there are financial transactions involved. Even when you prepare a proforma invoice, you will still encounter taxes when you will deliver a product or service to a buyer.

In addition to that, when you prepare a Commercial Export Invoice, underlying this bill of sale transaction between the buyer and the seller regarding what product or service the seller is exporting, and the transaction numbers that go along with it, are also tax charges.

What is a Tax Invoice?

Every legally registered company is obliged to pay taxes from their company’s profit margin to the government agency in charge of collecting taxes. It is similar to when a company uses Contractor Invoice Forms, wherein they have to place in the amount of tax due, before the final amount is tallied up. In line with this, a Tax Invoice is a type of invoice that is recorded in a ledger, and is placed among the expenses of a company and are often referred to as liabilities. Company taxes are issued as invoices to make it formal as well as to make it an official written document to be submitted to the government agency in charge of the collection of taxes.

Differences Between a Tax Invoice and a Retail Invoice?

One of the main differences between a Tax Invoice and a Retail Invoice is that with a Tax Invoice, it shows the amount of tax taken from the item that was purchased. However, with a Retail Invoice, it simply shows the proof of sale in the form of a receipt to be given to the buyer.

In the case of a Tax Invoice, it should include the complete information of the buyer and the seller along with the product’s information such as the quantity and the total cost of the product. Whereas with a Retail Invoice, the details stated here are the seller’s information, the purchased products, and the price that was paid for the product.

With a Tax Invoice, the company’s Tax Identification Number must be stated, whereas it is not a necessary detail with a Retail Invoice.

Tax Invoices are issued to a registered buyer while Retail Invoices can be issued to either a registered or non-registered buyer.

So no matter what kind of invoice it may be, whether it’s Blank Invoice Forms to be used for accounting purposes, or Invoice Forms In Excel for excel spreadsheets, you’ll have to make sure that you use the right kind of forms for the right purposes.
