In every aspect of our lives, it is rather important to try and plan ahead of time for any possible situation that could or would occur. But, the hardest part for determining or creating a plan would be to identify what and why you need to plan, because you cannot even begin to plan how to prevent something from happening if you do not know what is going to happen. In short, information is key to preparedness.
One example of a type of document that can help a person prepare for a certain situation would be an action plan form where such form is used to ensure that the person implementing or using the action plan form would be capable of creating and setting up a plan of attack on how to deal with certain situations.
What Is an Action Form?
Action is defined as a means of movement or usage of one’s capabilities. This term is often associated with the idea of movement and effort. An action form is basically a type of document that is often used to create a plan or strategy as to how a person should behave during a certain situation. The reason why this form exists in most organizations is because it gives employees an idea on what to do when the task assigned to them. If something is jeopardized and is in need of repair or reconfiguration, an action plan form would help the employee understand the situation better, and give the employee an idea on how to remove the issues.

What Is a Corrective Action Form?
Corrective means of repairing or restoring a certain object, person or property. A corrective action form is used as a means of preparing a plan or a guide a person may follow to ensure that they are capable of actually dealing with the task in an independent and responsible way. If a person creates a problem that would eventually go out of control like accidentally starting a fire, the most common reaction would be to put out the fire or call for help. The decision to put out the fire or call for help is basically what is in your corrective action form.

What Is a Preventative Action Form?
The word preventative is used in describing something that can cease or stop a situation from occurring, which in most cases would be something disadvantageous to the person.
A preventative action form is a document used when instigating or starting a preventative action plan. This type of action plan is typically viewed as a means of ensuring that nothing could go wrong by putting the person in a form of Murphy’s law, “Everything that could go wrong, will go wrong.” Using the preventative action form is to prepare the person for any situation regardless of the level of possibility.

The Difference Between a Corrective Action and a Preventative Action
There are several situations as to when a corrective action and a preventative action is implemented. These two seems to appear interchangeably. But, these two action forms are completely different from one another. They are different in terms of these matter:
- A corrective action form is used only after the situation or scenario has been accomplished; say a company being destroyed in a fire. In this case, a corrective action form is used so to identify the organization’s choices on how to proceed from the situation, and to identify means of preventing the situation from occurring once more. Simply put a corrective action as a type of action plan that requires the scenario to occur to identify how to prevent it from occurring again.
- A preventative action form is an action form that is typically made before the scenario could happen as a means of reducing either the likelihood of the scenario occurring, or at the very least reduce the damage of each scenario. Let us take the example of a burning company. When a preventative action plan or form is made before the fire then there could already be several safety measures installed in place to ensure that the fire would not spread too much; thus limiting the damage from the fire to only the source. In short, a preventative action plan is best implemented or made before the actual scenario occurs.
What Is a Course Action Form?
A course is a term with a double meaning. While it could be defined as a challenge to test the potential of a person, it could also mean a subject or a type of education being studied by the person. In this topic, we will be discussing the second definition of the term course.
A course action form is used as a means of identifying how a student can complete the course assigned to them to ensure that the student takes a course most suited to their abilities. It also helps to ensure that the student will be able to identify what they will be completing in the course and how exactly will they complete it.
Students are often at a loss when it comes to selecting a course to study without being given any prior information ahead of time. This is simply because most students tend to think that they want to select the best course for them as well as to identify the easiest course to take.

Why Are Action Reports Needed?
Action reports are a rather useful but often time-consuming tool to use due to the fact that they would often require a person to actually review all of the available data and information and due to this process, most people would shy away from actually accomplishing the task of making an action report.
However, an action report is still an important tool for the rapid sharing of vital information to relevant parties which could directly affect the outcome of a certain scenario. Hence, the phrase knowledge is the greatest key to victory.
